Yesterday's child
Is there really time to look back to my past?
About opportunities missed,
In times long ago in that part of my life,
That each day, become shrouded in mist,
The memories blur as the details are lost,
Was I really angelic or wild?
All will be revealed when I reach Judgement Day,
For I'm no longer yesterday's child.
It is from the present I look to the future,
To see what my Lord's planned for me,
Each day I take time to thank my Redeemer,
As I pray upon bended knee,
My mission, I know is to encourage people,
Who often feel they are reviled,
To repent their sins, before our Saviour Jesus,
And put away, yesterday's child.
It's only through Jesus, that we'll enter heaven,
And in paradise with him, walk,
As long as we keep our faith strong in our Saviour,
And regularly to him we talk,
With our hearts and our minds as we praise him on high,
And our faith becomes shaped, honed and filed,
To follow our Saviour, wherever he leads us,
In our past, leave yesterday's child.
So let us not linger on things we can't alter,
The past, it is now out of sight,
Let's look to the future and things we can alter,
As we walk in God's Holy Light,
To find those lost souls who are searching for Jesus,
Guide them with a manner that's mild,
So they may repent sin and find their salvation,
And leave behind, yesterday's child.
